Obituary for Glenn Harvey Dietzel

Glenn Harvey Dietzel, 82, of Victoria, passed away on October 11, 2018. He was born on January 31, 1936 to the late Howard and Noma Lee (Pantel) Dietzel in Victoria County, Texas. Glenn graduated from Patti Welder High School, attended Victoria College completing his associate of Arts Degree. He joined the Air Force on May 22, 1957, and completed officer and flight training to serve as Co-pilot on KC-97 Refueling Tanker with the Strategic Air Command 44th Air Refueling Squadron. He served 5 years in Air Force attaining the rank of Captain. He worked for E.I. DuPont for 33 years as process operator and production foreman, retiring in 1996. Glenn enjoyed ranching, raising Santa Gertrudis and Hereford Cattle and making hay for his cows. Amateur Radio Operator-K5YER- was his lifelong hobby. Also, constructing and flying Radio Controlled Airplanes was a great joy. He was an avid 42 domino player.
Glenn was an active lifelong member of Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church of Coletoville. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann Lemke Dietzel, living in the Coletoville area. He lived a long productive life and was a kind, gentle, loving husband, father and grandfather, known to his grandchildren as Geepa.
He is survived by his wife, daughter Cynthia Kay (John Ben) Cawley of Eldorado; son, Allen Howard Dietzel of Temple; granddaughter Nancy Ann (Chris) Sutton of Austin; grandson, Scott Riley (BriElle) Cawley of Breckenridge; great grandchildren, Jack Riley Sutton, Lauren Kay Sutton, Charlotte Jaymes Cawley and Riley Parks Cawley; sister Henrietta Farek and brother Dennis Dietzel of Victoria; brothers-in-law Ken (Pam) Lemke, Mike (Jayne) Lemke of Victoria, and numerous nieces and nephews. A sister, Carole and nephew, Chris Dietzel preceded him in death.
We would like to thank Dr. John McNeill, Dr. Camey Crane, Nicole and staff and Crown Hospice and staff for the great care during his short battle with cancer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Coletoville Cemetery Association, 2583 Coletoville Road Victoria, Tx. 77905.
