Barry did a variety of jobs over his lifetime. He was a bridge inspector with the Iowa Department of Transportation, owned a home repair business, was a woodshop teacher and retired from Walmart Automotive in 2005 after 14 years of employment there. He was a loving father and doting grandfather. In his early years, he turned down a college scholarship in basketball to join the Navy. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966-1970 on the USS Piedmont. He was quick witted, very dependable, always early, kept his word and was always there for others when they needed him. He enjoyed playing and watching sports. He was an excellent basketball player well into his 50’s, and excellent gardener with a green thumb, enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, playing card games or dominoes and liked crossword puzzles. His family will miss him dearly.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Esther Tuneberg and his half-brothers, Warner “Guy” Sublet and Larry Sublet. He is survived by his daughter, Nicole Anne Tuneberg Sinclair and husband, Grant; sons, Justin Jeffrey and Aaron Dewitt Tuneberg; former wife of 24 years, Sharon Tuneberg; sister, Jefferee Julich and husband, Dave; brothers, Cary Tunebergh and Darlow “Lee” Tuneberg; and grandchildren, Gabriel Lane Tuneberg and Gideon Michael Sinclair.
