Eriberta Davis Gutierrez, 90, of Victoria, gracefully left this life on the night of Friday, May 3, 2019, at home, peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones in prayer. She was born in Bartlett on March 16, 1929 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. and Lucia (Daniel) Davis. She married Miguel “Mike” G. Gutierrez in April of 1950 and they resided in San Jose, California, having their adored daughter, Mary. After the two divorced she remained in California for over 20 years and then moved back to Texas, retiring from VISD after 13 years. She was a lover of crafts and sewing, having an effortless talent for making beautiful quilts, baby blankets, crochet pieces, clothing, and often donated some of these hand-made items as gifts to local nursing homes. Cooking was definitely another major passion of hers, with no recipe too challenging, and she greatly enjoyed baking for her family and friends during the holiday seasons, on birthdays, on anniversaries, or just a casual afternoon. She adored Mexican music, especially the romanticism of a mariachi band, and the prospect of a Tom Collins never ceased to make her smile mischievously. For many years the growing of her roses, and other plants in her garden, were a pride of hers. She was a devout Catholic who, above all, had a genuine love and interest in her family, always offering her generous heart and understanding ear. For this, and many other treasured reasons, she will be forever missed by them all.
