Gayle Bernice Leur went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 3, 2019 after a year-long battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on May 11, 1949 in Victoria, Texas. Gayle was the tenth child of eleven born to Ozelle and Jewell B. Ralls.

Gayle is survived by her husband Richard (Dick) Leur. Gayle and Richard celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary this year. Gayle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Through the years, Gayle and Dickie enjoyed taking many trips including Jamaica, floating the river, camping, water skiing, eating breakfast and drinking coffee at Ramsey’s every Sunday morning and spent many weekends with nieces and nephews teaching them to water ski. They loved the outdoors!
All of 4’10”, she had a big personality, feisty, fun and upbeat! Gayle loved to talk and never met a stranger. She opened her heart and home to many, was a caregiver and very compassionate, always ready to lend an ear to listen to others’ concerns. She had a good time wherever she went. She worked most of her career at the State Farm Claims Office.
Gayle is also survived by sons, Chad Leur and Ricky Leur along with cherished grandchildren Cody Leur, Megan Leur and Tori Leur who called her Gigi. She is also survived by her sisters: Molly Summerlin, Patsy Price and Nancy Orcutt and brothers: John W. Ralls and Kenneth Ralls along with brother-in-law’s: Jack Price and Bill Orcutt: sister-in-law’s Edith Ralls, Barbara Ralls, and Ann Ralls along with her many nieces and nephews who thought she was the coolest Aunt ever. Lastly, she is survived by her fierce miniature Dachshund guard dog affectionately called “Ringo” and another miniature Dachshund not so fierce called “Princess.”
Preceding Gayle in death were her parents Ozelle and Jewell B. Ralls; her sister Joy Ralls Harlow; her brothers Monte R. Ralls, Bobby G. Ralls, Jewell Benton Ralls, Jr., Bill D. Ralls, her niece Monica Ralls, sister-in-law Joyce Ralls, and brother-in-law’s James Whiteaker, Troy Summerlin, and Bill Harlow.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Juan Llompart, Dr. Kliem Vu, Dr. Fariborz Gorouhi, Dr. Tyson Meyer and Dr. Henry Whitehouse with Hospice of South Texas, Pastor Keith Aschenbeck with Grace Lutheran Church, Pastor Larry Green with Hospice of South Texas, Deacon Leo Sharron with Hospice of South Texas along with all the wonderful caring nurses and staff who cared for Gayle with Hospice of South Texas.
A visitation will be held at Grace Funeral Home on Monday, July 8 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Private Graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery at a future date.
