Genobeba Martinez Gonzales, also known as Geneieve or Veva, passed away on Sunday, December 8th, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 14th at 9:00am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 208 W. River Street. Burial will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery in Mission Valley.

Geneieve was born January 3rd, 1935 in Inez, Texas to the late Santos and Elia Martinez. She married Jose C. Gonzales, Jr. on April 26, 1951. They had 6 children. She was a housewife who enjoyed sewing, quilting and loved her grandchildren; she was always talking about them. She loved being outside, enjoyed the fresh air and planting her flowers. The center of her world was her daughter Anita (Nina) Gonzales. They did everything together. She taught Nina how to cook and loved listening to music and raising their chickens together. Geneieve had a sense of humor through all the ups and downs of her life. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

Geneieve was preceded in death by her parents, Santos and Elia Martinez; her sons, Ralph Gonzales and Richard Gonzales; and her sisters, Simona Martinez, Lorenza Flores, Maria Cruz Garcia and Elia Chacon.

Geneieve leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 68 years, Jose Gonzales, Jr.; her children, Tommy J. Gonzales and wife, Dalia; Anita Gonzales; Robert Gonzales and wife, Lulu; and Albert Gonzales and wife, Linda; daughter-in-law, Veronica Gonzales; siblings, Eletueria Martinez, Tony Martinez and Margaret Lopez; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other loving family and friends.
