Gordon Price Starling, Jr., lovingly known to most as “Buddy”, peacefully went to his eternal rest, Thursday, May 16th, surrounded by his loving family. Buddy courageously battled Esophageal cancer for the last three months, he was aware of what was happening to him and made his own decisions to the very end. Buddy’s family and friends will gather for visitation Sunday, May 19th from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy in Victoria. A service celebrating Buddy’s life and legacy of service will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, May 20th at Grace Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Crescent Valley Cemetery.

Buddy was born August 24th, 1949 in McKinney, Texas to the late Gordon Price, Sr and Velma Peevehouse Starling. Buddy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved sitting with friends drinking coffee at our local restaurants. Buddy was an avid model car collector. In Buddy’s career, he worked for Mid Coast Electric in transportation, the Victoria Advocate as a Route Supervisor and worked for HEB, this is where he met his love Linda Gail Campbell. They were married September 9th, 1978 in Victoria. Buddy served his community for many years in the Bloomington area as a volunteer firefighter. For the past 20 years Buddy has owned and operated, “Starling Transportation”, serving many many funeral homes in Texas and many surrounding states. His service to the funeral industry has been an invaluable service, he will be deeply missed. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Velma Starling; his sister, Mary Ellen Cheung; and his brother, Jimmy Starling.

Buddy leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of over 40 years, Linda Starling; son, Cody Starling; grandchildren, Addy and Bane Starling; brothers, Terry Starling and his wife, Kristie and Ted Starling and his wife, Mary; sisters, Maxine Starling and Sue Bowden; along with numerous other loving family members and funeral industry friends.

Memorial donations in Buddy’s memory are requested to be sent to Hospice of South Texas Center of Compassion. Linda and Buddy’s family are so thankful to the staff for all the amazing care and support they gave to Buddy.
