John Richard Garcia, 56, a native of Victoria, passed away, Sunday, May 5th, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. John's family will gather for visitation and rosary, Thursday, May 9th, 2019 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy. in Victoria, with a rosary recited at 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Jacob Koether at 1:00PM, Friday, May 10th, 2019 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 218 W. River in Victoria with burial to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

He was born in Victoria, Texas on November 24th, 1962 to the late Jesus Frausto Garcia and Leonor Moreno Garcia. He was the youngest brother out of his siblings. He worked for VISD as a security guard at Memorial High School and Liberty High School for over 20 years. He loved his school kids. He thought of them as his own children. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved action movies like Marvel's The Avengers, King Kong, Godzilla, Jurassic Park and Star Wars.
He is survived by his son, Joshua Gabriel Garcia; siblings, Raynalda Garcia "Pinky", Catherine Montoya "Cat", Jesse M. Garcia "Hito", Manuela Rodriguez "Tita", Maria Anita Reese "Anie" and husband, Andrew, Deborah Ann Cochran "Debbie" and Jessica Ann Garcia; grandchildren, Joshua Garcia, Jr., Ethan Garcia and Gabriella Garcia; numerous nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; many great-great nieces and nephews; along with other loving family members and friends.
