Obituary

Jonas Mojica De La Garza, 79 of Victoria, entered into his eternal rest, Tuesday, May 21st, 2019. Jonas' family and friends will gather for visitation Friday, May 24th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy in Victoria. A service celebrating Jonas' life and his faith will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, May 25th at Grace Funeral Home, with Pastor Roy Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Esther Balboa De La Garza. Pallbearers will be Trinidad “Happy” Hernandez, Lee Vernon Gomez, Michael Aguirre, Johnny Balboa, Armando Trevino and Larry De La Garza.

Jonas, a native Texan was born, April 2nd, 1940 in Seguin, the only son born to the late Pete Albert and Maria Carmen Mojica De La Garza. Jonas worked for many years in the construction and remodeling industry, he was very talented and meticulous about his work. Jonas enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In the late 1950's Jonas, met the love of his life, Esther Balboa, they enjoyed over 60 years together. Jonas and Esther were longtime members of City Harvest Church, it was there that the two of them renewed their vows to each other over 10 years ago. Jonas was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Carmen De La Garza; his sister, Carolina Herrera; his son, Robbie De La Garza in 1992; and his wife of over 60 years, Esther Balboa De La Garza.

Jonas is survived by his sons, Angelo De La Garza and Larry De La Garza and his wife, Diana; his six sisters, Lousie Aguado, Virginia Watts, Connie Miller, Linda Garcia, and Christine Martinez; 8 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; along with numerous other loving family members.
