Obituary

Juan Manuel Padierna, 69, passed away on Monday, June 29th, 2020. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2nd from 2:00pm-7:00pm at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Highway, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00pm. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 3rd at 9:00am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 208 W. River St. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Pallbearers are Frankie J. Sanchez, Joseph Garcia, Kobe Trevino, Mike Pina, Zakary Mendieta, Mikey Torres, Aaron Garza and Matthew Garza.

Juan Manuel Padierna was born April 9, 1951 to the late Jose Manuel and Prajedes Ramirez Padierna in Victoria, Texas. He was very well known in the Tejano music community. He ran a production company that helped with setting up concerts and events. The community will never be the same without him. He was selfless and would do anything for anybody and he never asked for anything in return. He loved his grandkids. They were his life. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and playing scratch offs. He was always very lucky with his scratch offs. He worked for the city of Victoria in the Water Department for 25 years. After retiring, he worked part-time as a maintenance man for a local car wash. He had to always be doing something. He was a busy body. He couldn't stay down. He was a funny and loving man. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Manuel Padierna and Prajedes Ramirez Padierna; and his brother, Natividad Padierna.

Juan is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lucy Padierna; his children, Johnny "Tuche" Padierna, Jr. (Jessica), Gabriel Padierna (Crystal) and Olivia Lemons (Bruce); grandchildren, Maggie, Madison, Maebry, Sophie, Kobe, Zakary, and Natalie; siblings, Paul Padierna, Abundio Padierna, Tony Joe Padierna, Gilbert Padierna, Virginia "Kina" Rubio and Alice "Licha" Padierna; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.

Please accept my deepest sympathy and most sincere condolences on the loss of such a dear and friendly child of God. Johnny always presented himself in the most respectful and congenial manner upon greeting anyone. Soft spoken, active, loved his music and enjoyed the outdoors greatly. Johnny, my friend, I will miss your presence dearly. May God grant you mercy and rest your soul. May perpetual light always shine on your soul and from the heavily delights look over your family with divine providence.

Juan or known by many as JP was not only a loyal employee but was a good friend. I meet JP in 2009 and didn’t know how this good man would effect my life but when my wife in 2015 had an heart attack and later in 2017 had a kidney transplant JP always ask me in person or on the phone how was miss Glenda he truly cared about others. In all the years I knew him he never complain or had a bad thing to say. He took his job very seriously I jokingly always said you could set you watch by JP because he was always on time and knew what he had to do that day. Never had to supervise JP on the job at hand he always took care of things. He was loved by all of us and he will be greatly missed.
