The sun rose and shone brightly on November 8, 1953 when Kenneth Leon Barnett made his earthly entrance in Cuero, Texas. He was the third child born to Ora Lee Barnett and Earnest Barnett in 1953. Kenneth was raised by his mother Ora Lee, his grandmother Eddie, grandfather, Oscar, and a Myriad of Family Members in Cuero, Texas, where he grew up. Kenneth accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Cuero High School where he played football on the Cuero Gobblers team until he graduated May 25, 1973. While at Cuero High Kenneth started as a middle linebacker. The Gobblers went to State in 1970. The year 1971 and 1972 he was Captain of the Gobblers Football team. He also ran track 300-yard hurdles.

Leaving home after graduation Kenneth enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served four years with honors. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton near San Diego, California. Kenneth met and married the love of his life, Tammy McCann, who preceded him in death. The Union was blessed with three children, Ora Lee, Genivieve, and Kenneth Jr. Kenneth was a great provider and awesome father to his family.
After leaving the United State Marine Corps, Kenneth went to work for Lockheed Aerospace in Irvine, California.
He also continued his education at Santa Ana Community College where he received his Degree, Associate in Science in December 1984. Later Kenneth and his family moved back to Cuero, Texas where Kenneth went to work for Formosa Plastic, where he worked for over 10 years before retiring. During his employment at Formosa, he continued advancing his skills where he was awarded several awards and certificates. He continued his education where he attended Victoria College and Truck Driving School. Kenneth later went to work at Circle K in Victoria, Texas where he quickly advanced at his job and became a Night Supervisor. However, before his demise, his most recent position was at MH Leske Oil Co. for four years where he was a Transport Driver.
On Wednesday, March 20, 2019 during the night Kenneth answered a call from his Ultimate Father. Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, and daughter Genivieve. Kenneth’s journey to heaven will leave a great void in our lives.
Leaving to cherish his memory his mother Ora Lee Slade Franklin; his children, daughter Ora Lee Barnett, and son Kenneth, Jr.; four grandchildren, Anthony, Julius, Joshua, and Ja’Lea; and one great granddaughter, Amina. As well as three brothers, Johnnell (Barbara), Malcolm (Amber), and Timothy; three sisters, Shirley Houston, Colleen (Donald) Washington, and Brenda (Leonard) Thomas; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
