Obituary

Marjorie Mae Freude DeSpain, a native Texan, peacefully went to be with her Lord, Thursday, May 21st, 2020, at the age of 89 years old. Her family will hold private services at this time and a public memorial service will be held at a later date. Marjorie will be laid to rest at Westside Cemetery, Yorktown, Texas beside her late husband, Boyd Lewis DeSpain.

Marjorie was born, December 23rd, 1930 in Yorktown, Texas to the late Charles O. and Frieda Peters Freude. Marjorie married her love, Boyd Lewis DeSpain, April 26th, 1949. She loved her hobbies of embroidery, crocheting, gardening, canning, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. She worked for many years and retired from J. C. Penney Department store as a Floor Supervisor. She enjoyed greeting the customers and assisting with their purchases. For the past 5 years, Marjorie had resided at Greatwood Assisted Living, where she enjoyed playing Skipbo and Chicken Foot every chance she could. Marjorie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She will be deeply missed. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Frieda Freude; her husband, Boyd Lewis DeSpain of 64 years; an infant son; her two brothers, Allen C. Freude and Calton D. Freude; her five sisters, twins, Billie and Bobbie Freude, June Marie Spellman, Joyce Borgfield, and Nelrose Enke.

Marjorie is survived by her two daughters, Susan May DeSpain (Thomas)Dickens of Corpus Christi and Nancy Lynn DeSpain (Alan), Caudle of Grapeland; six grandchildren, Tiffany L. Byrant(Mitch) Burton, Daniel J. (Angel) Bryant, Melissa L. Caudle (David) Lambert, Christopher S. Caudle, Ruston (Kimberly) Dickens and Randy Dickens; eight great-grandchildren, Ashley (Travis) Gilliland, Daniel J. Byrant, Jr., Austin T. Bryant, Dylan Bryant, Timothy D. Lambert, Joshua C. Lambert, Lilly and Violet Dickens; two great-great grandchildren, Caleb and Aria Gilliland; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.
