Marvin Herbert "Sonny" Schulte, 87, a native of the Crossroads area, was called home by God Friday, May 10th, 2019. Marvin's family and friends will gather for visitation, 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Thursday, May 16th at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy in Victoria. A service celebrating Marvin's life and his faith will be Friday, May 17th at 2:00PM at Grace Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. A reception and celebration of life will follow after burial at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Airline. Pallbearers will be Aaron Schulte, Brandon Schulte, Michael Muniz, John Cordes, Jimmy Cordes and Cody Alexander.

Marvin was born April 28th, 1932 in Hallettsville, to the late Herbert John and Angela Marie Chudej Schulte. For decades, the man everyone knew as Sonny stood watch over his family and, like a great oak, weathered any storm that came. Marvin owned and operated his own painting company for over 40 years before his retirement in 1995. Marvin married his love, Dorothy Jo Cordes, November 20, 1953. His passion in life was always family, a man who stopped at nothing to provide and put a smile on everyone's face. Marvin could fix anything and took great pride in doing so. He loved woodworking and inventing contraptions to solve life's little problems, both of which are cherished greatly by his family. Marvin's pastime passion was fishing and enjoying being in nature on the river bank, especially when the fish were biting. "Paw-Paw" had served his family and community with great honor. And now his Lord called to him saying it is time to rest.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Angela Schulte; three infant children; and three brothers-in-law, Fred Taylor, Bob Barker, and Curtis Allen.

Marvin leaves, to cherish his memory and continue his legacy, his loving wife of over 65 years, Dorothy Schulte; his sons, Steve Schulte and wife Christine and Vance Schulte and wife Judy; sisters, Gladys Taylor, Jean Marie Barker, and Dorothy Allen; his grandchildren, Aaron Schulte, Lori Muniz and husband Michael, Jamie Kline, Lisa Matl and husband Peter, Kenny Smith and wife Kim, Paul Swoap, and Brandon Schulte; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and his fur baby, Harley, his beloved Chihuahua; along with numerous other loving family members.

Memorial donations are requested to be sent to the Goliad Pet Adoption.

Thoughts and memories may be shared online at Arrangements and services under the personal care of Grace Funeral Homes and Cemeteries.

Steve and Christina
Just read about the passing of Steve’s dad.
I’m so sorry and may the grace of our father be with you all.
He was a good man and I’m so glad to have meant him years ago.
He made me patio furniture and have enjoyed them tremendous.
May he RIP

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.

You will always be missed, but never forgotten. You will live always in our hearts. We love you.. Rest In Peace Uncle Sonny.
