Obituary for Michael Keith Baird

Michael Keith Baird, 64 most recently of Point Comfort, Texas passed on to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, January 15th, 2021, surrounded by his loving children. He will be laid to rest at Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington Prairie, Texas in a private family ceremony.

Michael was born, June 15th, 1956 in Liberty, Texas to Warren Knox Lane and the late Kitric Carson Baird. He worked in the oilfield for many years, he was a tool pusher and also a truck driver. Spent many hours on the oil rigs and on the road as a long-haul driver. Retiring about 10 years ago, he took up the hobby of shrimping; being out on the water brought him great peace and helped him support his family. Michael was a simple man that lived his life and taught his children to live life with good manners and always be willing to help another in need. He insisted that each of them learn a trade to be able to support their families. He was a logical person and loved to make people smile, it was a goal he woke up with every day. His children will always remember his many short sayings he would share with them about life, such as “It don’t do a dog any good to bark after he has already bitten someone” and “Do as I say Not as I do.” He was not a perfect man, but Michael lived his life with a strong faith in God and always striving to do the right thing. He taught with tough love, but his children never doubted his love and support for them. Michael was an avid reader, especially a good Louis L’Amour book and he enjoyed just sitting watching the cows in the pasture and the sunset in the evening. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Kitric Carson Baird; his brothers, Thomas Carlton and David Osborne; and his son-in-law, Neil Wayne Harris.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy of creating a smile for someone each day; his loving children, Brandie Harris, Jessie Baird and her companion, Jason Walton, Leo Baird, Juliea Baird and her companion, Dustin Carpenter and Kenneth Baird; his eight grandchildren; his siblings, Mary Osborne, Jocelynn “LaLa” Robins, Jenny Curry and Billy Osborne. Michael is also survived by the mothers of his children, Frances “Liz” Bartles and Marian Pool; his close friends, Jesse Clark McKay and Tina Dennis; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.

Michael was a good man and will be deeply missed by all those who lives he touched with his special wit and genuine smile.
