Obituary

Prospero Martinez, Jr., 76, passed away on Tuesday, July 14th, 2020. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 27th at 10:00am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 1309 E. Mesquite Lane. Burial to follow at Golden Sunset Cemetery, 3011 Refugio Highway in Victoria.

Prospero was born July 11th,1944 in Cheapside, Texas to the late Prospero Martinez, Sr. and Juana Salazar Martinez. He joined the United States Army in 1966 and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1968. After leaving the military, he started working at DuPont and was employed for 25 years. Once retired, he traveled all over the United States with his wife, San Juanita. His favorite place to travel to was Canada. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Family was very important to him. His grandson, Matthew, was his best friend. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed.

Prospero is survived by his wife of 55 years, San Juanita Martinez; daughter, Lisa Davila (James); grandson and best friend, Matthew Davila; brothers, Pasquel Martinez (Delfina) and Ben Martinez; along with numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Prospero, Sr. and Juana Martinez; daughter, Rosa Martinez; brothers, John, Cecilio, Jesus and Robert; and sisters, Mary and Fernanda.
