Richard John Fiero, 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 28th, 2020. Richard’s family and friends will gather for a graveside service at a later date.

Richard was born in Batavia, New York on October 24, 1933 to John and Marion Holmes Fiero. The family moved to Austin, Texas in 1942. Richard graduated from Austin High School in 1951. He then graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1955 with a B.A. in Physical Education and was a lifelong Longhorn fan. He married Carolyn Jean Boddie in 1958 at the First United Methodist Church in Harlingen, Texas. He later earned a B.A. in Mathematics from Pan American University in Edinburgh, Texas. He taught mathematics and coached for 38 years until his retirement, mostly in Raymondville, Texas at Raymondville High School.
He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife of 44 years, Carolyn Jean Fiero in 2003; his son, Richard Glenn Fiero in 2004; and his grandson, James Fiero in 2013.

He married Carel Dillinger in 2004 in Victoria, Texas, and they were married until his passing.

He is survived by two brothers, William Fiero (Mary Ann) and David Fiero (Sharon); three children and three step-children: Janet Fiero Black (Timothy), Susan Fiero Longoria (Eddie), Greg Fiero (Rocki), Denisha Marino (Gary), Sheri Mersinger (Ron), and Dennis K. Dillinger; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Richard was active in several churches during his lifetime, serving as Lay Witness Coordinator at the First United Methodist Church of Raymondville, Texas, and as an active member of the Mighty and Mature Warrior group at Faith Family Church in Victoria, Texas. He also held offices in the Rio Grande Valley chapter of the Full Gospel Businessman's Association. His favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me..” NKJV
