Obituary

Willie King went to be with the Lord March 1, 2020 at the age of 77. He was born August 26, 1942 to the late Jesse and Leola King in Altair, Texas.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a funeral service at 1:00 pm at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Highway, Victoria. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, EX-POW, MOPH, VVA, and KWV will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by sisters Jessie Poindexter and Jewel King; brothers Curtis King and Leonard King; brothers-in-law John Garner and Sylvester Garner and sister-in-law Susie Simmons.

Willie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Muriel King; daughters Cynthia (Richard) Garley and Kendra (Mike) Ollison Rozzen; sisters Leona Smith, Mildred Jones, Betty Glover, Sandra (Terry) Glover, Joyce Lowe and Arlita (Allen) Hurd; brothers Jodie Scott, Leonard (Marilyn) Scott and Everett Troy Grounds; step mother Ruby King; sisters-in-law Mary Hill, Trula Garner, Lillian Garner and Irma Nell Garner; brothers-in-law Herbert (Dana) Garner, Larry Garner, and James S. Garner; grandchildren Richard Garley, Ashley Ollison, Patrick Garley, Andrea Ollison and Toddrick Garley; great grandchildren Eric, Nicholas, Brianna, Roslyn, Josephine, Carlos and Kyla and numerous nieces and nephews.

Willie served in the US Army. He was a caring husband, father and grandfather. He loved coaching baseball, barbequing, and setting up his family reunions.

Willie's family is in my thoughts and prayers during your time of sorrow. I have so many fond memories during our childhood growing up in Altair. Willie was always a lot of fun and there was never a dull moment when Willie was around. May he rest in peace. God bless his family.
